Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation vs e.l.f. Acne Fighting Full Coverage Foundation

Kayla compared the Lock-It Tattoo Foundation to the Acne Fighting Full Coverage Foundation. Here's what they had to say:

Kat Von D is $36 for 1 oz while ELF is $6 for 1 oz. Both products are full coverage matte foundations. Kat Von D has a larger shade range compared to ELF. ELF's lightest shade (Porcelain) even looks a little dark for me. Kat Von D claims it's fragrance-free but I absolutely do not agree with this as it has a very potent paint like smell. ELF also smells but not nearly as strong as Kat Von D. Kat Von D is very thick in consistency compared to ELF. A little goes a long way with Kat Von D. It covered all of my blemishes once I got it to blend out but it made my face look very cakey despite using very little - it also settled into my fine lines. The coverage and lasting power are there in KVD's foundation but I do not like the cake like finish it had on my skin. ELF although is a full coverage foundation it's very light feeling on the skin & it covered my blemishes & redness. The big difference between ELF and KVD is that I feel like KVD is super heavy on the skin which could clog pores & cause breakouts but ELF is very light feeling on the skin and actually markets itself as Acne Fighting because it has 0.5% of Salicylic Acid in its ingredients as well as Witch Hazel, Camphor & Tea Tree. I used this foundation for quite a few days in a row and I did notice that it cleared up several of my blemishes quickly. I was pleasantly surprised because usually, Salicylic Acid dries my skin out if I use it daily. Both foundations lasted all day on my skin - the only difference I found between the two is that ELF doesn't cake on your skin & it actually has added benefits in its formula for acne prone skin. If you are a fan of KVD and want to save yourself some money definitely try this out or if you have issues with acne this may be your saving grace! As long as you can find your shade, that is. I choose ELF over KVD.
